Top 5 Graphic Cards Under 5000

High End Graphic Card Under Rs 5000

In today's era graphic card is an essential need for all users. It could be used for various purposes like-for animation, gaming, and enables windows to run smoothly.

While building this list I've kept few key points in mind:
  • The card should be latest in the price slot.
  • It should not ask for any extra power source a normal 250-350W SMPS/PSU should do.
  • Should have a good heat sink to eliminate any further need of an extra fan.

    1. The Nvidia 650ti range is still very good but quite old now, so if you have a HD monitor especially with upto 1920x1080 resolution then go for the AMD Radeon R9 270x Sapphire edition with 4GB of DDR5 memory it is the best graphic card in that range right now and obviously newer. It has beaten the 650ti in all the benchmarks possible.
Feel free to ask any further questions.

    1. For your price range I'm recommending the following GPUs in the order of preference and performance:
Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 1 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Sapphire AMD HD 7730 1 GB DDR5 Graphics Card
      Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon R7 240 with Boost 2 GB DDR3
      Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 6670 2 GB DDR3 2 GB DDR3
ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 Synergy Edition 2 GB DDR3

These are the graphic cars that are around your budget and should be enough to run all the programs that you plan to throw at them.

    1. The AMD/ATI R7 240 1GB DDR5 is the best in the lot and in this budget aswell.
Its the latest offering by AMD/ATI and is made to support all the latest games and applications including the support for the AMD Mantle which is an equivalent of Microsoft DX.
Buy it without a second thought.

  5. Vishvesh sir ,sorry for disturbing you again, finally ive decided to get Gtx 650 1gb ddr5 ,my question is ,should i buy the zotac one or gainward one ..? Also about smps, will iball 500w marathon do good ,or i need to buy corsair 450w ,both has cost diffrenece of 100. Bucks .thanks for replying sir.

    1. The zotac one as it has a better architecture than the gainward equivalent, the gainward is just a downgraded version of the chip using the same GPU.
Yes it will but you should buy the Corsair 450W as it is more reliable and will give more efficiency and output than iBall 500W.
Read my article on SMPS for more details if you like to.

    2. Thanks sir ,so zotac 1gb Gtx650 Ddr5 for 7400₹ it is ,
Another last question ,sir how it will work with Amd athlon x2 245 cpu...? I know its old and probably will bottleneck my gpu,but i cant upgarde my processor now ,and im dying to hear some postive things about my cpu+gpu combo.thanks sir.

      Delete
    3. It will work fine as the Athlon is a very reliable processor indeed and will only bottleneck your GPU in terms of core intensive apps and games like Crysis3 and Battlefield4, other than that its all good.

  6. I have AMD FX 4300 processor and my motherboard is ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3. My primary requirement is gaming like COD-Ghosts, Crysis 3, Battlefield 4 etc.My budget for Graphics Card is Rs. 9000. Please suggest a graphics card (must be DDR5) which will not bottleneck while playing the aforesaid games at High settings.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. MSI NVIDIA N650-2GD5/OC 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
This should be your pick, and you cannot run these games at high setting if you include the 1600+ resolution in your criterion as your processor is weak for high or ultra high processing. Games especially like Battlefield4 and Crysis3 are very core intensive so the graphic card will not bottleneck your system but its the other way around and the processor is the weak link.
But sure you can enjoy them on medium to high setting at medium resolution without a problem.
Feel free to ask any further questions.

    2. What about sapphire hd 7770 or zotac nvidia 650 ti. Will they be good options to play the games at medium to high settings?

      Delete
    3. The HD 7770 is a 1GB DDR5 chip whereas the 650ti 2GB DDR5 is not quite around your budget but if you can afford the 650ti then you are free to choose it.
Only the 650ti 2GB DDR5 is better than what I've suggested you, otherwise the rest are near obsolete.

  7. HEY I HAVE A doubt which one should i go for i have a budget of 5k but im confused with MSI NVIDIA N630GT-MD4GD3 4 GB DDR3 and ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT240 1 GB GDDR5 .
    i m gonna amd's fx8320 processor

    Replies
    1. ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GT240 1 GB GDDR5 should be your choice unless you plan to use multi-monitor setup for doing most of your work.
Its fast and newer so would provide you a better experience as a whole on a single monitor.

  8. also u mentioned about sapphire amd/ati radeon hd6670 ddr5 in ur other post so which one is better the zotac or this

    1. I personally prefer the HD 6670 as its a lot better in terms of performance and just a little expensive than the Nvidia GT240, so if you use a AMD processor that you are then you should choose the HD 6670 if you can simple becasue its optimized to couple and perform along with a AMD processor.

  9. hii........ i m using Nvidia 8400GS graphics card in my pc... i want 2 know that Nvidia GT610 graphics card is better in perfomance than my Nvidia 8400GS .
If yes than from which brand...... Zotac or Gainward GT610

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Nvidia GT610 is far better in performance than the 8400GS simple because its new , has more memory and even a higher clock speed.
You should buy the Gainward GT610 as its an improved version of the original Nvidia GT610, manufactured by Gainward using the same GPU chip.
The hardware is better so more performance is extracted from the same chip.
My recommendation is the Gainward GT 610

    1. It all depends on your budget and both gigabyte and asus are well suited for the processor, in ASUS i recommend the ASUS M5A97 Motherboard an in Gigabyte the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P Motherboard is what i recommend.
Other that its up to your budget and a few other personal choices.

  11. I'm planning to buy a new DDR5 Graphic Card. My choices are AMD HD 6670 1GB DDR5 or ATI 1GB DDR5 R7 240 or ATI 1GB DDR5 R7 250. Could you help me choose the best one under that budget(6K)?
Also, I'm afraid the GPU will bottleneck my CPU & Motherboard.

    My Config is:
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93Ghz
    MotherBoard: Asus P5KPL-AM/PS
    RAM: 2GB DDR 2 RAM
    PSU: Zebronics 450W (20+4) PIN (20A on 12V Rail)

But I can't afford to upgrade my Processor or Motherboard right now. So, could you please help me out with your suggestions and recommendations?
    Thank you so much!!

    Replies
    1. First you should buy the latest R series so pick up the ATI 1GB DDR5 R7 250 even though its a bit over your said budget but then you yourself have mentioned it in your choice list.
It will not disappoint you in any case and will run all the latest games until now on high to ultra high settings.
It will not bottleneck anything if you plan to run games that are not core intensive like Crysis3, Battlefield4 and COD: Ghosts at high to ultra high settings. In these games keep the texture quality low and options like motion blur and post FX etc should be turned down to almost zero as they put more load on the CPU.
Other than that you'll are good to go.
Feel free to ask any further questions.

    2. Also, my motherboard has one PCIe 16x slot, so there's a slot for the graphic card. But it has PCI 1.0 bus standard. I need to make sure the Graphic card is backward compatible because the graphic cards I mentioned are PCI 2.0 or PCI 3.0 and AMD graphic cards that are PCI 2.0 are backward compatible with PCI 1.0 and will work with my motherboard but I'm not sure if AMD graphic cards that are PCI 3.0 are backward compatible with PCI 1.0 and therefore, work with my motherboard or not! It would be a great help if you could clear the doubts. Thanks again!!! :)

      Delete
    3. Yes they are backward compatible and will work fine. Your card is not a very high speed/high memory card so even the PCIe 1.0/2.0 will be able to give you optimum output giving all the required bandwidth to the card.
This thing only matter when you buy a very high end card with a lot of vRAM memory like a 3GB+ DDR5 graphic card.
So use it without any hesitations.

  12. First of all, thank you very much for your previous replies!! So, I decided to get a ATI R7 250 1GB DDR5 card. I went ahead and inquired in many shops and found the best deal at Rs.6300/-. But the shopkeeper also happened to mention the 2GB variant of the ATI R7 250 DDR 5 to be Rs.7250/-. I'm now confused which one to choose. My configuration is in my last comment. Could you please help me choose? I mostly plan on playing games like DOTA 2, NFS RIVALS, BLUR, FIFA 14, and do video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and After effects. I'll be using only 1 monitor at any given time. I've heard the 1 GB and 2GB variants don't have much difference in performance. So, I need your help in choosing the best one.

Also, I have a PSU: Zebronics 450W (20+4) PIN (20A on 12V Rail). I showed my PSU to the shopkeeper and he said the graphics card won't run on that PSU even if it's 450W. But the R7 250 needs only 400W!! He suggested to buy some(not sure about the brand) GOLD 450W PSU for Rs.775/- or a 550W PSU to be able to run the graphic card. I would upgrade my PSU if it's really necessary for either the 1GB or 2GB variant of the R7 250 model. So I'd be glad if you could shed some light on it too.

To sum it all up, I need your help to answer these 2 questions:

    1. 1GB variant or 2GB variant of ATI R7 250? And Asus or Sapphire version of it? (My motherboard is ASUS while my processor is Intel)

    2. Do I need to upgrade my PSU?

    Replies
    1. One last thing, if it's not too much trouble. R7 250 or R7 250X? Though I doubt the availability of the R7 250X version in Chennai or India for that matter.

      Delete
    2. Thank you, and as for your ques:
      1. You need to have a 1GB DDR5 variant of the card for your needs and requirements as a 2GB memory would rarely come to use if its a DDR5, you want to play games that are not very intense along with softwares that reply more on processing power and fast graphic memory rather than more memory.
Sapphire should be your pick as they specialize in graphic card manufacturing over ASUS.
      2. You should upgrade that just to safe-guard your hardware as its not a gold certified PSU nor is of a reliable brand name. Buy a Corsair or Coolermaster PSU of the same wattage if short on budget though the 500W is highly recommended and you'll do fine.

The X version of the base R7 250 is slightly better but of hardly any use, not to mention its not even available in India yet so better buy the R7 250

    2. You basically have two options to choose from buy the one that you feel like as both are really competent cards.
      AMD/ATI R7 240 1 GB DDR5
      AMD/ATI R7 250 1GB DDR5
Both are latest n can run all the applications from high to very high settings.

    3. What about AMD/ATI HD 7770 1 GB DDR5?
Also since my motherboard has PCIe 2.0 and the GPUs require PCI 3.0 will that affect performance much?

      Delete
    4. The 7770 is a good card n almost at Par with the ones that I've augmented you but the only problem is that it's of the older series to that of the AMD R series so in near future all the driver updates will be for the R series with support for the 7000 series being withdrawn slowly. Also all the latest games n softwares will have support for these cards only so they are more future proof.
It doesn't make any difference the PCIe versions are only significant for high end cards with memory siz. Of over 3GB and.more so these cards will work fine on your present mobo

      Delete
    5. But when i compared them to the HD 7770 the benchmarks show them being hugely outperformed in all aspects except 3dmark11 scores! :/

      Delete
    6. Thats because all the games today support the direct X from Micrsoon but soon AMD mantle will take over n as all the major titles today are supported n optimized for AMD so you'll feel the difference soon. The R series only supports the mantle software moreover the Hd 7770 is over your budget so I didn't recommend that but it's your choice so go for it if you like it's not a bad investment all together.

      Delete
    7. Thanks that clears it up! Also the HD 7770 is available for Rs. 7400 on Flipkart!

    10. It's a simple card that doesn't require many resources to function properly.
It will only use your PCIe port for connection....as for your router I'm about to write an article onhow to keep a router cool in summers but in the mean time just follow the steps below:
1 Keep the router vertical as it helps in destination of heat better.
2 Keep the room's fan or air conditioner on to keep it cool in case you leave it on fir some downloads etc.
3 Buy a portable fan for it that works via USB port like that for laptops n keep it on top of it as an exhaust it will cost you less than 100 or 200 bucks.

Hope this will help to solve your problem

    4. Yes it's compatible with it n the R7 240 requires a maximum of 450w which is easily supplied by any stock PSU.
Don't get to cautious it's an entry level card n is made keeping in mind the needs n status of the aimed market.

No it won't be a problem the version of the PCI-E port only matters when you use heavy and high end cards that use more than or eaqual to 1000Mhz clock speed and have VRAM like 3GB or more.
So you can easily use this card on your PCI-E 2.0 port.

    3. You can run almost any game in the market today at medium to high settings on that configuration.
EA Games are not every resource hungry especially sports franchise like FIFA series, you'll run them on high to ultra high on this confi without a single lag just keep the resolution of the game under check like below or up till the 1600 resolution category.

    5. I can reply to any query of yours regarding computing.
If that goes for your cabinet then the differences would be none as the level of PC that you are building doesn't require much cooling facility and extra space, apart from what comes in stock. Just add a 80mm fan as exhaust at the back of your zebronics cabinet and you'll be fine.
In case of PSU ie your power supply unit you don't need to bother much as zebronics PSUs are good enough for handling this configuration. Buy any 450W zebronics PSU and you'll be good to go.

    1. There is no particular model you can buy any model from these companies if you are in budget, they all are the same with changes in external appearances only.
So choose the one that suits your taste and pocket, they mostly come with a pre installed PSU/SMPS so don't bother about that as well.
Only high end gaming or server cabinets have such minute details that need to be taken care of. Just select a model and ask me if you like regarding any doubts regarding it.

    3. The R7 240 1GB DDR5 between the two.
Though its a bit slower than the 6670 in terms of clock speed but is newer with support to the newly released Mantle by AMD which will be supported by newer titles and give better performance than the conventional Microsoft DX.
Also the R7 240 is PCI E 3.0 whereas 6670 is PCI 2.1 means that you can harness more power out of the hardware through a faster port.

    1. The configuration is fair enough you, make the following adjustments in order of mention:
      1. Get a cheaper motherboard if you are on budget n put that money in the RAM you need more RAM to run games on high setting n especially for softwares that you intend to run. Get another 4gb module n make it a total of 8gb.
      2. To be future proof increase the PSU to 600w

For graphic cards the 660 silencer is good infact best in the budget but it's not worth the extra ~3000 bucks over the 650ti boost as the gain is nominal and brings down the price to performance ratio.
Either you buy the 650ti or if you can afford then buy the r9 270x toxic 2gb DDR5 it's the best graphic card under 20k n will future proof you for atleast 3-4 years to come with ease.

And about Trascend RAM. Please suggest any specific model if any. I dont know much about RAM. What is the difference in trascend 4 GB worth Rs.2800 and 4 gb worth Rs.8000. both are 4gb

      Delete
    5. The basic difference between RAM modules of the same brand n same memory size that are priced differently is that the expensive one has a better design enabling it to stay cooler, has a higher clock frequency making it work real fast, more capacity to be over clocked and work in extreme conditions due to high grade silicon used as base n more complex circuitry. Most important that are designed to work with multiple high memory sticks like a total of 32gb to 64gb RAM mainly used by workstations n servers.
You can buy the one that is cheap n at the starting range no need to go for the high end models as you'll be wasting money and won't be able to harness all its power.

Do read my article on buying guide for ram for more information.

    7. May be GIGABYTE GA‑H87M‑D3H...which comapny is more compatible with intel chip

      Delete
    8. MSI is at par with ASUS and Gigabyte as a matter of fact it is better than Gigabyte in terms of minor details sometimes. In your case the choice of motherboards is same both support the same Intel 4th Gen Processors and most of the features provided are same.
I recommend that you stick to the MSI motherboard as it has more advantages in terms of technology over the Gigabyte model, you get more expansion slots including more PCI ports, Fan connectors and even you'll be better of in future opting for a SLI/Crossfire configuration.
It has more stability than the Gigabyte model and is more heat and load resistant, the on-board performance enhancer OC Genie 4 accelerates your entire system and puts it into overdrive making it extract the last drop of performance from the components even under the most extreme and demanding situations.

Go for the MSI B85-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 in this price slot.

    4. For running games such as these you basically need all your parts to be durable and fast.
The AMD FX series is far better in gaming than Intel so go for the FX 4300 or better the FX 6300 I'd say as it'll future proof your rig and help you run games that are core intensive such as battlefield 4 etc.
      1. FX 4300 or FX 6300
      2. Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
      3. R7 250 1gb DDR5
      4. Corsair Vengeance 8gb

With this configuration you'll need to have a branded power supply of atheist 500w so get one if you don't have one, I've left you enough margin in your budget that you can easily accommodate one.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Usually mixing of different RAM size and specifications is not recommended.
For you to use these two together first make sure that their voltage ratings are same. For example both should be working on 1.2V or 1.5V and so on.
The latency will pose a problem so as a measure if your BIOS don't self adjust then tweak the settings to the lowest latency, in your case its 8.

The performance would not degrade rather the two RAMs will operate at the lowest clock frequency of the two but will give you a higher amount of memory. The system may go unstable on heavy loads giving you BSOD error.
I recommend that you buy RAMs of matching frequency, latency and even brands if possible.

  35. hello sir, i want a low budget pc for gaming. under rs.7500 or rs. 8500 can you tell me which processor & motherboard combination is good. AMD or Intel which is good for gaming.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You really have a very tight budget considering that you'll use it for gaming purposes.
Still I can give you two options very much around your budget in AMD. I'm not giving you an Intel alternative as all of them are dual core and the present generation games are demanding quad core processors atleast.
So I suggest that you buy:

      Option 1--
      Processor- AMD 3.9 GHz FM2 Quad-Core A8-Series A8-6600K APU
      Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-DS2 Motherboard

The processor being an APU will give you graphic support so you can buy a graphic card later on and run games with just the processor and the built in Radeon Graphics.

      Option 2--
      Processor- AMD 4 GHz AM3+ FX-4300
      Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2
This combo gives you a more powerful processor than the previous but without graphic card in built so you'll need a graphic card now only.
So if you have already decided on a graphic card then go with option 2 otherwise option 1 is the best in your budget.

Fee; free to ask any further questions.

    Replies
    1. If you are asking without Graphic Cards then the A-series APU range by AMD is top in class. Their built in Radeon Graphics GPU will give you a very decent performance in gaming.
By dual grphics I suppose you mean SLI or Crossfire, yes it does make a difference and is beneficial only if you are pairing two good cards together. Driver and games supporting dual or multiple graphic cards is still an issue so its not advisable over a big and power single GPU.
      For more details read this:
      http://vishveshtech.blogspot.in/2014/07/what-is-amd-crossfire-and-nvidia-sli.html

Yes for gaming atleast 4-6GB of high speed RAM is recommended as the new titles need atleast 4GB of spare RAM so if you want a gaming PC then make sure you put in a 4-6GB of decent RAM atleast. Going upto 8GB is highly recommended if you can afford them.

Yes you sure can run all these softwares as you were running them on the 64 but version aswell. But yes if you are using photoshop cs5 and above you'll need to choose the 64 bit installation mode at the time of installation.
Also a few old softwares that you were able to run on windows xp or earlier will not run on the 64 bit architecture unlike the did on the 32 bit version of windows 7.
There certainly is a lot of difference in technical terminologies but in general it's mainly in ram amount that is supported along with faster execution of tasks due to more bit procession per cycle by the processor.
You first make sure that your processor supports a 64 bit operating system or it'll be a waste for you giving you no significant increase in performance.

You can buy them both online to save money if you are not from the NCR or mumbai region where the hardwares are cheaper or at par with the online prices.

Both are equal but I'll recommend the gt 730 for your system as you cannot harness the extra potential that the R7 240 offers over the gt 730.

In 20K the best possible configuration is as below:
      AMD 3.5 AM3+ FX 6-Core Edition FX-6300 - Rs 7000
      ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard - Rs 5000
      Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 GC 1 GB DDR5 - Rs 5000
      Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 4 GB PC DRAM (2GB+2GB) - Rs 2600
      Seagate Barracuda 1 TB - Rs 4000

Cabinet and PSU can be any of the Zebronics or iBall bundle as you are on a very tight budget, most of them come with a standard 450W PSU which is enough to run these components smoothly.
Also if you want to slah more then opt for the AMD 4 GHz AM3+ FX-4300 FX-Series Four-Core processor to save another Rs 1500. You won't feel much difference in performance especially while gaming.

    3. The configuration that I gave you with the FX 6300.
As you have an extra money left invest it to buy yourself a Corsair VS450 450 Watt PSU and a normal iBall or Zebronics cabinet to keep all your components safe and increase their life span.

    1. Hello,
The card will run smoothly on a good 450W PSU from any of the reliable brands.
Yes a SSD is obviously a better option over a HDD due to its higher life, more durability, faster read/write speed and low power consumption but its at the same time very expensive so use it either in RAID with your HDD as a primary partition or when space is not an issue.

The only issue is your RAM, its too low you need at-least 4GB to run any game these days.
The card will cost you around 5000/- max

    1. The i3 is not at all worth it if you plan to run any game on the rig, its architecture and technology is not meant for gaming I suggest you get the following parts:
      AMD FX 4300 4Ghz quad-core processor
      Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard
      Kingston Hyper X DDR3 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) PC DRAM

This built with the GT 730 will serve you well in any game that you will throw at it.

  49. isAMD FX 4300 4GHZ quad core is equal to Intel core 2 quad because my friend wants to sell his 1year old core 2 quad should I take it what would you recommend ..sorry for asking these many questions I am new to this computing world .

    ReplyDelete
  50. The Intel core 2 quad has two models namely as, Q9550 and the Q8400.
If you are getting the Q8400 then its not worth it as it is no where close to the FX 4300 moreover you'll need a bigger PSU to feed that processor to work perfectly and at its highest potential, moreover it is second hand so the performance would be much lower than the already weaker sealed pack product worsening the case.
As for the Q9550 it is weak aswell but is worth it only if you are getting it at dirt cheap rates, the FX 4300 is already around just 5K so you need to get the Q9550 for 2K at max mainly because its old and weak and will consume more electricity.

No its OK your questions are welcome, helping people out is the sole purpose of this blog.

  51. hi, i need to buy a new mobo for my rig. m using core 2 quad processor and ddr2 ram 4gb. my current mobo is intel DG41RQ . i have faced a peculiar problem since i upgraded my pc few yrs back. when i try to copy data from usb drives my pc hangs. its fine when i copy data to pendrives etc. consulted ppl but cudnt find a solution. smtimes usb 3.0 hard drives copy data very slowly. thats the reason i have selected gigabyte GA-G41M combo mobo as it supplies more power to the usb ports. i hv also selected MSI G41 combo and DIGILITE G41 ddr3 . Which mobo do u recommend. i will be buying a ATI radeon R7 240 with boost 1 GB DDR5 graghic card based on ur recommendations in this blog. Do you have another mobo in mind that u would like to recommend. my budget for mobo is 5k. Integrated graphic card not reqd.
my PSU is 300W . m not sure about the brand though. will it be able to power the new rig? this setup is mostly for gaming. With this config will i be able to play BF4, COD ghosts in medium to high settings?

    1. Ok so this problem is a clear indication that your PSU is failing. I presume that the computer stops responding for a while on connecting a USB device like a HDD or a cell phone and resumes speed of copy past slowly, the upgrade that you are talking about was either an additional HDD or the processor.
Your configuration itself is too heavy for any 300W PSU be it branded or local, the Intel quad is power hungry and you've paired all of that with two HDDs that will obviously need a lot of power to spin simultaneously.
I recommend that you get the Gigabyte GA-G41M its the best option no doubt you'll have all the features you can use with a medium grade gaming setup.
You need to get a good PSU to work with your existing configuration and definitely you'll need one if you upgrade to a R7 240 GPU. I strongly suggest that you first get yourself a PSU then the motherboard as the PSU is the culprit and not your mobo. Buy the Corsair VS450 450 Watt PSU if you are on budget.
And yes you can all those games on the R& 240 1GB DDR5 easily at 720p at medium to high settings, just increase your RAM as COD Ghosts need atleast 4GB of free RAM that is you should have atleast 6GB of RAM on your system to run it.

  52. oh and i forgot to mention that i have 2 hard disks of 500GB and 2TB and also 1 dvd writer. So PSU of 300W will be sufficient? if not How many watts PSU do u recommend? Also keep in mind that i might change the processor to i7 and motherboard in mayb 3-5 yrs

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you plan for an Intel i7 then i suppose the other hardware would also be power hungry so you need to put in a Corsair VS 650W PSU in your system better you get it now itself as it'll save you from a future expense.
Omit my recommendation of the PSU from the previous comment to this PSU and you'll be future proof with enough head-room.

  53. that explains it. my SMPS failed a few yrs back and the PSU was replaced. but i did not do any research before replacing. always thought it was bcoz of mobo. 6 months back the audio stopped working . Do u think my mobo is failing? i have been using the usb sound card since. the mobo sound card works when i install the driver but the next time i want to use my pc theres no audio again. have to install the driver again. its around 5 yrs old. i though of upgrading my rig as the monitor used to constantly go blank and no signal would be displayed on the screen. i had a nvidia 9400Gt 1 GB installed which i disconnected and used the mobo video card and that issue has been solved. but i am not sure if it was the graphic cards fault. i dont want to upgrade anything except PSU and graphic card if possible. Can u also recommend a case for my rig around 3k. thanks a lot

    1. Your problem was a direct indication to the PSU being the fault in the whole mix.
Not likely the audio drivers do exhibit issues sometimes on computers its not a hardware related problem as you said the your audio jack works upon re-installation of the drivers. Its more of a settings problem on the OS than a motherboard problem, as you've installed a USB sound card that can cause conflict in the drivers rendering the motherboard sound card useless.
The graphic card is not the problem the PSU is, it was not able to power up the GPU and hence gave you display issues upon using the graphic card.
I've already suggested you a PSU so if you are on budget then buy the Corsair VS450 450 Watt PSU or else the VS 650 will be best as you'll not need to change it in future coz you've stated that you'll upgrade to a core i7.
Right now you can buy the DeepCool Tesseract or the Cooler Master K380, both are in your budget and offer plenty of useful space and cooling options along with durable quality.

I understand your position it happens with many and even me sometimes so cheer up.
Anything below 2000 is not worth purchasing for gaming especially, so I'll suggest you the best you can get:
      1. HIS AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 or the 2GB DDR3 variant is better if you can get it in 2500/- otherwise the 1GB DDR3 version will also do fine
      2. Asus NVIDIA GeForce 210 1 GB DDR3

These cards will allow you to run most of the games at low to medium settings at 720p resolution or below.
      Make sure you read:

    1. This can be due to several reasons so lets just start with the basics ok:
I presume that the battery is plugged into the laptop nicely adnthere are no loose connections.
Before proceeding to the below steps you should charge the battery for a while and then remove the charging cord to see if the laptop stays on or not as it may be a windows issue that is not reading the battery levels properly and giving false displays.

*The most common issue is that the charging cable or plug is famaged somewhere, including the brick in between, try to charge any other laptop with it and see if it works or not.

*Second is the issue of carbon deposition on the laptop charging port and the charging cable's port. Just blow some air into both the ports and apply some Thinner OR any carbon removing solvent on the ports. Let the charger & Laptop DRY for 20 Minutes and then re-insert the cable into the laptop and see if it works after a boot or even without boot.

Update me if it works and even if it doesn't I'll give you another solution accordingly.

  60. hi again. i replaced my circle psu with Corsair vs 650W psu yesterday as recommended by you. All the ports were installed normally. connected 2 hard drives, 1 fan , i dvd drive and motherboard power supply. intel DG41RQ has a 4 pin connector so the 8 pin connector was split and one part was connected and the other 4 pin connector just next to it touching a battery like thing. graphic card nvidia sparkle 9400Gt 1 gb is already connected to the motherboard. It doesnt need external power from psu as there is no connection for it. after replacing the psu i started the computer. computer booted up and everything was normal till after 5 mins there was a fire in the cpu case. i quickly switched off the main power supply. then i opened the case and there was a little smoke but after looking around with a torch i cudnt see anytin burnt. what do u thing went wrng and what should i do next?

    1. Hello there,
I presume that when you observed the fire or sparks inside the cabinet your monitor was displaying things properly and all the operations worked properly.
This can be a diverse issue as you yourself haven't seen any particular signs of burns or melts on the inside.
The first troubleshooting can be the you check around the socks especially the 20+4 pin motherboard connector both on the PSU and the motherboard. Second will be your peripheral cables to the HDD or the dvd drive.
If they seem to be all right then the loose 4 pins can be the culprit as they are touching your CMOS battery on-board and could've caused a surge just see of the CMOS is fine n not burnt and tape the connector to avoid any future issues.
Turn on your pc if you observed any of the above problems and rectified them after either removal or repairs.
If none is observed as above then you might have a burnt capacitor in the PSU itself, a faulty module or a sudden voltage surge could've fried it. If you don't have a UPS then it was definitely a voltage surge as they are common in india.
Claim a replacement for the same.
Inform me about your progress on this issue so that I can guide you better.

    1. Yes the graphic card causes this problem many a times that is the reason why I mentioned about a working monitor in the first place.
Removing it and switching to the on-board graphics is what you should do right now and relax there is no issue with your system now.
Yes buy the R7 250 1GB DDR5 and you'll be all good to go.

    1. Hello,
Lets just say that your Laptop is all good and nothing is broken inside the chamber where the battery rests and the pins or sensors are working fine.
Just follow these steps in the same order as I mention them:
      1. Remove the battery and keep your Laptop running on direct power from the AC supply of the charger.
      2. Click on start menu orb>type "device manger" and open it> Under the battery option you'll find a couple of options.
      3. Just right click and uninstall the following two drivers--
      -->Microsoft AC Adapter
-->Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
      4. After you've uninstalled these just shut down your laptop.
      5. Re-insert the battery back in the chamber and keep the charger plugged in. Power on your laptop.
      6. After it powers on check the batter charging status from the task bar.

Hope this will solve your problem.

    1. This seems to be like a drained battery issue.
When you purchased the batteries I guess they were all drained fully not complying with the minimum 3% power level that is required to power on a laptop.
You need to jump start the battery, just do this and it may help.
==>As you've mentioned either you leave the battery to charge for a stretch without disturbing and you may notice a slow increase in levels of charging. If you do then don't worry the battery is reviving and will charge quickly after a while of charging.
==>If this doesn't work then reset the system management controller by Shutting down the computer and disconnect the power cord. Remove the battery. Press and hold the power button for five seconds. Reattach the battery and power cord attached to an outlet, then start up the computer.
==> The last sensible method is that you take out the battery and get it to the shop asking them to jump start it by manual charging they can do it for you.

Your laptop and its charging pins are fine the problem is that your laptop is old and a battery for such model might have depleted completely by sitting on shop's shelf without even getting into actual use. A jump start will help and ix the problem permanently if the top two points don't.

    1. Hello,
You have a Gigabyte motherboard I suppose, and these have known USB driver issues courtesy to the controller that they employ.
I suggest a simple solution to try at first.
Just go into the BIOS of your system when it boots up locate the on the "Integrated Peripherals" options and select something like the "USB Storage Function" and select disable for this and exit the BIOS after saving.
This function is needed only when you boot from a USB drive but that;s not the case in your situation so diabling it will solve your issue as it has known issues in conflicting with the USB drivers and causing system freezes.
Try this and come back to me. Hope this solves you issues.

    1. Alright this seems to me like a power mismanagement, try to connect the same USB device to the ports at the back instead of the front USB ports and see id the problem persists. This is because the rear USB ports get proper power whereas the front USB ports built into the cabinet get mis wired many a times during installation by the vendor.
If it is not freezing when you plug the USB device in the back posrts then the front ports are not wired properly or at worst may be damaged over the long usage of your old power supply that was already failing.
      Try it and come back.

USB 3 devices hang but the transfer takes place very slowly in kbs and keep on hanging in between. but when i connect USB 2 devices and copy any data especially large files the pc hangs and stops responding till the time i unplug the device. then it functions normally without the usb. Transfers from the usb to pc are pretty ok. but transfers from pc to USB is a pain.

    1. OK, well I recommend that you two different steps that you should follow one after the other and not both at once.

      >>>Uninstall all the drivers for your USB port<<<
      1. Go to device manager
      2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
      3. Restart your PC and see if it solved the problem.

      >>>Disable the Data Execution Prevention feature<<<
      1. Go to command prompt by typing "cmd" in start menu search bar
      2. Type bcdedit /set {current} nx AlwaysOff press enter and restart your PC

Either of these should work if they don't then you need to get your USB ports checked as it may be a corrupt hardware case. Update me if you have any lead on this.
